This year, I'm planning to enter NaNoWriMo. For those of you who don't know what that is, that stands for National Novel Writing Month and the aim is to write 50,000 words in the space of November and November alone.
Now before you start laughing at me, stop and think for a moment.
There you go, now you may laugh at me.
Honestly, I'm looking forward to this, and also dreading it. I'm looking forward to it because I want to see how far I get before I end up having to scrap it, and also because I want to see how hilariously terrible the story will be. I'm dreading it because of how far I think I'll get before I end up having to scrap it and also because of how hilariously terrible it will be.
As I said, though, I'm planning on doing this, but may end up not. I may become too lazy, I might just chicken out, I may decide to pour a lot of energy into a certain novel I've already started, I may suddenly get a huge essay for school that I'll have to do, who knows?
Anyway, as you may have guessed by now, if I do end up doing this, I'll most likely be putting a hold to everything I'm writing at all for a month. Entering NaNoWriMo will mean writing just over 1,600 words everyday. That alone will probably kill me.
(And now I return to writing this thing after taking a break for half an hour...)
So in the absence of The Battle for Blogland chapters, I suppose I should maybe talk about it a bit.
Or something. I guess I'll just randomly leap from point to point...
Uh... So, for the sake of progress and story, some obvious things that would be an easy way out have been removed or ignored. For example, Ivy's ability to teleport us all anywhere. And Elaisse, for another.
Uhm... Everyone that originally applied will be in it. There's no question of that. So Izz, you'll make an appearance actually pretty soon (if I ever manage to make this blasted chapter any good...). There are probably some others that I've forgotten about, but anyone who originally commented on the Battle for Blogland post will get in.
For the others who asked later on (Eden, Miss Cain and others...) I don't really know... Not that I'm trying to be mean, but you didn't exactly answer any of the things mentioned in the original post that I made. Also, since I barely even know you, I'd need a personality description, and then I'd need to think of a way to get you into the story and then what you'd do. There's already a lot of people there as it is and half of them haven't even had direct speech mentioned for three chapters...
Hm... Themes? I know I asked this at the start of the last chapter, but since no one actually answered it, I'll ask it again. Does anyone listen to them at all? While reading the chapter? Afterwards? Not at all? I'd keep posting them with the chapters even if no one listened to them, but I want to know anyway. The main reason I decided to put themes with BfB chapters is because it was a song that originally inspired the idea for the story. Well, the song and then that short snippet story that Sparky did with everyone dying.
Remember that? You must remember that. It was great. Because everyone died.
It's fun to kill off characters. It's just brilliant.
So alright, I haven't actually killed anyone off in any of my stories other than zombies and vampires, but in Nix and Mist, for example when a certain person died (who will go unnamed for spoilers). When I found out that that character was going to die I felt happy. It's just fun to kill off characters because you can. I'm betting that all those pictures about Derek killing off everyone in the end are pretty accurate.
That aside, I'm not going to enjoy killing any of you off, I don't think. For me, it's always been kinda hard to kill any of you in stories (or What If?'s) in a way that isn't offensive. And I also failed miserably in a lot of them for someone, which was very bad.
It's even harder in Battle for Blogland, considering all of you seem to like it so much. Keeping standards high is important, and I barely even know what I'm writing half the time, which makes it even harder. I don't know what any of that is, for example. *waves to the entire post*
Keeping people happy is important too, and I'm not exactly perfect at doing that, so killing people in a nice way, and a high-standard way isn't easy.
But now, I've rambled too long and said too much, so I'll leave you with a choice before November comes along.

ReplyDeleteGo Zath! It is a brave endeavour you are venturing on, indeed. I wish you luck, my friend. AND TONS OF INSPIRATION. You are going to need it....
ReplyDeleteUmmmm BFB.
ReplyDeleteSally forth into the unknown-
Someone in Year Eleven has forced me to enter a writing competition.
I'm making an appearance! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI actually kinda hope I die. I think I would die well.
I will admit I don't listen to the themes. A part of me is interested and wants to have a look, then another part of me has five other tabs open all demanding attention and puts it on the To-Do List, then m mother tells me to get off the computer and I've run out of time.
I would assume no one else listens to them either. But we never said anything because we didn't want to offend you. That's my theory anyway.
I like all the drama of BfB. So I have to vote for that. I remember Sparky's thing; it was awesome.
Good luck for November! I hope you'll see fit to show us what you did (horrible or not) when it's done or scrapped.

BATTLE FOR BLOGLAND!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm sure YOU know that I like to kill off characters. Actually, everyone knows that, but whatever.
Hehehe... The funny pictures of Derek....
Also, WHY CAN'T I TELEPORT?! HAS THERE BEEN SOME HORRIBLE CURSE PUT ON BLOGLAND?! HMMMMMMMM?!?!?!
And... uh... You can't kill me, yeah you can't kill me... *breaks into dance*
Reading over this again....
ReplyDeleteI don't think Ivy has Necromancer powers.
What the heck? It posted to the wrong post.
