1 Year Of Utter Madness

That's right, today, the 20th of January, 2013 is my One Year Blogversary.  And I have to say, it in no way at all feels like a year. Then again, time isn't - or wasn't - exactly something that was best kept while around Blogland.

I'd suspected that the first comment I made on the blog was in late December of 2011, but no, I looked through the comments and found my first. And while I'm still the same guy talking to you all now as the guy back then, I'm definitely different. You people changed me more in a mere few months than anyone else had in years. And in a good way, mind you. I'm glad you did.

The ride wasn't always smooth, admittedly. There were the times where everyone was down, and then the times where arguments were common. But everyone always pulled through, and everyone on Blogland are just so kind and caring for everyone. I won't pretend that I know all of you, because I really don't. Most of the newer Bloglandians - Death, Eden, Aretha, Jubi, Ember, Sev and [insert names of any newer minions I've missed] - I've barely even talked to.
The people I do know, though, I'm incredibly thankful that I have you all in my life. And I really and truly mean that. Nix, Sparky, Ivy, Luce, Eve, Ink, Flame, Lynxia, Lav, Izz, Thrust, Robin and [insert names of any older minions I've missed], you guys have all been so helpful and good.

[After trying and failing ten or so times to make a nice and soppy post about how excellent and awesome everyone on Blogland is, I daresay that I'm never going to be able to accurately describe just how incredible each of you are. That kind of writing style just doesn't for me unfortunately.]

I'm not nearly as appreciative of you Bloglandians as I should be. Last year would have been so much harder without all of you, and while I've distanced myself from you guys a lot now, you're still a huge part of my lives. And I really am thankful for that. And I'm also sorry for the things that I did to people in my first year that I really shouldn't have. Also for being so horrible to a few people while they were on Blogland. Namely Dylan Silver (who everyone knows by a different name now - not that I can remember which one), Jakro Tintreach and FreakFan.

Well, I first commented under the name of NegativeSanity. Like a lot of other people, my first comment was intended to be my only, and a one off thing. And then, of course, I discovered that there was actually a community going on in the comments of Derek's blog. I soon met Eve, Sparky, Val V., Shadow9 (Lynxia) and Flame, The Shadow Ripper (Rim) and so many others. To be frank, I was incredibly annoying when I first joined. Stubborn, stupid, clueless and downright aggravating.
There was fight of epicness that occurred when I first met Nobody - who ever since has been my best friend - which involved a whole lot of us obliterating zombies and vampires before fighting Sanguine, Tesseract, Melancholia and a few others. And then Eve turned up and tried to kill us all for hurting Mel, if memory serves.
Following that, though, I'd already managed to make Sparky, Ivy and Lynxia take a dislike to me. And yet I, being the clueless idiot I was, continued to feel welcome in Blogland and acted as though the place was my home.
I did wise up, though. It took about a month, admittedly, and also required help, but I obtained a good lot of common sense. Which is good. Now I have friends everywhere, and even though I rarely get to talk to Lynxia anymore, I'd like to think we became friends.

However, whether or not I was acting like a lunatic, Blogland was a place where I could actually feel welcome. I didn't understand it properly at first, of course. It was too much for me to understand. There were so many people and so many stories and so many blogs and so many other things that were so different to the kind of people I'd known previously. But it was a place where I could - after I wasn't so annoying - fit in. The community was just brilliant and the people were even better. With the Skulduggery Pleasant concept always at the core, Blogland had managed to evolve past a mere discussion meet point. It was Blogland. I mean, we have Volcano for gods sake (technically, it's Nix's, but you get the point). I don't know. I have so many friends on Blogland now, and all of them are awesome.

In other news, I've lost where I was heading with this post.

There have been so many good times on Blogland, and they're the things that come to mind when I think of Blogland. I remember when Thrust and I helped Nobody choose a name, who is now Nixion Strange, of course. That first roleplay fight is always a good memory. Then came the arrival of... Star Midnight? I think that was it. And all the conversations she had between Star 2 and Star 5 about tuna mayo and something or other. I can't possibly remember all that. And Lavender Hope, too. And Gab and so many others, I lost track. When Nix and I started Nix and Mist.
Okay, so perhaps I haven't really listed many happy events as such. But I think just thinking of Blogland is a happy feeling. More than happy. Something I can't really describe, it's weird. But I could never work out why the older Bloglandians weren't ever as regular as we all were. The community was practically flawless and I couldn't see why they didn't want to be around so much. And I know I'm not around heaps anymore either, but that's how I felt back then.

So! What was meant to be a really nice post about all of you amazing people has turned into this *gestures upwards* half incomprehensible mass of randomness. I guess that's just me, for you. Can't write something like that even after hours of stabbing at it.
Oh well. That's it then. I have to say, it's been awesome on Blogland. I know I was never the nicest person, nor the most comprehensible (not that that mattered back then) or the most likable, but I still felt like I belonged. Blogland was just so good at that, and all you people there made it that. I'm so glad I have all of you in my life, even if it isn't as real as one might hope. You newer regulars, I salute you, and hope to get to know you better soon. You older regulars in the time of our prime, I bow to you. You're all so very awesome, and I can't thank you enough for being there and accepting me over time. My one year of utter madness around you lunatics has been a blast.

So with all of that out of the way, there's nothing left to say but Thank You.

And you're all insane.
